H.M.S.BELFAST

Since 2004 we have been the resident living history group onboard HMS Belfast in London. We were first invited by the Imperial War Museum to bring the ship alive for the 60th anniversary of  D day, which the ship took part in, bombarding the beaches of Normandy. Our demonstrations to the public consists of firing the P1 4” Mk XVI gun (which fired the first rounds in the engagement with the Scharnhorst in the battle of North cape). We also demonstrate a damage control scenario to show how the ship responds to action damage. Our expertise in this stems from some of our members doing this for real in recent conflicts in the R.N.  We also act out a Captains defaulters scene to show how naval discipline is dispensed onboard a warship.
